We investigate the two main uncertainties on the extraction of the nonperturbative matrix elements $\bar{\Lambda}$ and $\lambda_1$ from moments of the inclusive rare FCNC decay $B \to X_s \gamma$. The first one is due to unknown matrix elements of higher dimensional operators which are estimated by varying the matrix elements in a range as suggested by dimensional analysis. The effect of these terms is found to be small. A second uncertainty arises from a cut on the photon energy and we give...

My boy crashed his RC Car (Reely Dart Truggy 1:10) and instead of buying replacement parts i thought i'll give it a try in Fusion 360. Because I have not the right materials nor the printing experience, a friend of mine printed it for me in PETG. Maybe better in ABS Infill: 100% Went together very nicely, only had to clean the holes with a drill. Testdrive coming soon UPDATE 10.11.2019 Test Drive successful still working after some crashes

Web 2.0 applications like Twitter or Facebook create a continuous stream of information. This demands new ways of analysis in order to offer insight into this stream right at the moment of the creation of the information, because lots of this data is only relevant within a short period of time. To address this problem real time search engines have recently received increased attention. They take into account the continuous flow of information differently than traditional web search by...

Magnetic skyrmions are topologically non-trivial spin whirls that may not be transformed continuously into topologically trivial states such as ferromagnetic spin alignment. In recent years lattice structures composed of skyrmions have been discovered in certain bulk chiral magnets with non-centrosymmetric crystal structures. The magnetic phase diagrams of these materials share remarkable similarities despite great variations of the characteristic temperature, field, and length scales and...

Moments which allow the determination of mb^{1S} and lambda1 with theoretical uncertainties Delta(mb^{1S}) ~ 0.04 GeV and Delta(lambda1) ~ 0.05 GeV^2 are presented. The short distance 1S mass is used to extract a mass parameter free of renormalon ambiguities. Using the SU(3) flavor symmetry of the weak Hamiltonian we derive all-order constraints on the electroweak penguin contributions to the Wilson coefficients of SCET operators.

Using the known resummation of virtual corrections together with knowledge of the leading-log structure of real radiation in a parton shower, we derive analytic expressions for the resummed real radiation after they have been integrated over all of phase space. Performing a numerical analysis for both the 13 TeV LHC and a 100 TeV $pp$ collider, we show that resummation of the real corrections is at least as important as resummation of the virtual corrections, and that this resummation has a...

We show how to relate moments of the reconstructed hadronic invariant mass distribution to the moments of the physical spectrum in a model independent way. The only information needed on detector resolution functions are their first few moments. Theoretical predictions for the first three moments as functions of non-perturbative parameters are given for various lepton energy cuts.

Clear anomalies establish the skyrmion lattice unambiguously as a thermodynamic phase. The evolution of the specific heat anomalies, the field dependence of the entropy released at the phase transitions, and the temperature versus field dependence of crossover lines provide striking evidence of a tricritical point at an internal magnetic...

We obtain perturbative expressions for jet distributions using soft-collinear effective theory (SCET). By matching SCET onto QCD at high energy, tree level matrix elements and higher order virtual corrections can be reproduced in SCET. The resulting operators are then evolved to lower scales, with additional operators being populated by required threshold matchings in the effective theory. We show that the renormalization group evolution and threshold matchings reproduce the Sudakov factors and...

A procedure is developed for using Soft Collinear Effective Theory (SCET) to generate fully exclusive events, which can then be compared to data from collider experiments. We show that SCET smoothly interpolates between QCD for hard emissions, and the parton shower for soft emissions, while resumming all large logarithms. In SCET, logarithms are resummed using the renormalization group, instead of classical Sudakov factors, so subleading logarithms can be resummed as well. In addition, all loop...

We consider processes which produce final state hadrons whose energy is much greater than their mass. In this limit interactions involving collinear fermions and gluons are constrained by a symmetry, and we give a general set of rules for constructing leading and subleading invariant operators. Wilson coefficients C(mu,P) are functions of a label operator P, and do not commute with collinear fields. The symmetry is used to reproduce a two-loop result for factorization in B -> D pi in a...

It was designed to provide efficient handling of multivariate polynomials, algebras and special functions that...

Parton showers are widely used to generate fully exclusive final states needed to compare theoretical models to experimental observations. While, in general, parton showers give a good description of the experimental data, the precise functional form of the probability distribution underlying the event generation is generally not known. The reason is that realistic parton showers are required to conserve four-momentum at each vertex. In this paper we investigate in detail how four-momentum...

The production of vector bosons in association with jets contains at least two unrelated scales. The first is the mass of the vector boson m_V and the second is the hard interaction scale giving rise to large transverse momenta of the produced jets. The production cross sections depend logarithmically on the ratio of these scales, which can lead to a poor convergence in fixed order perturbation theory. We illustrate how to resum all leading logarithmic terms using effective theory methods, and...

A recent measurement by the D0 collaboration finds a like-sign di-muon charge asymmetry in the B system that is roughly 3 sigma larger than the value predicated by the Standard Model. This suggests new physics contributing to B-Bbar mixing. For the current central value of the CP asymmetry, the required size of Gamma_{12}^s is larger than Standard Model estimates of this quantity. In this paper, we will explore the constraints on new physics contributions to Gamma_{12}^s. We show that there are...

The level lines of the Gaussian free field are known to be related to SLE(4). We study logarithms of the form $\ln(m_q/m_b)$ which arise in the inclusive semileptonic decay of a bottom quark to a quark of mass $m_q$. We use the renormalization group to resum the leading radiative corrections to these terms, of the form $m_q^2\alpha_s^n\ln^n(m_q/m_b)$, $m_q^3\alpha_s^{n+1}\ln^n(m_q/m_b)$ and $m_q^4\alpha_s^n\ln^{n+1}(m_q/m_b)$. The first two resummations are trivial, while the latter involves a non-trivial mixing of four-fermi operators in the $1/m_b$ expansion. We...

We propose determining |V_{ub}| from inclusive semileptonic B decay using combined cuts on the leptonic and hadronic invariant masses to eliminate the b->c background. Compared to a pure dilepton invariant mass cut, the uncertainty from unknown order (\Lambda_{QCD}/m_b)^3 terms in the OPE is significantly reduced and the fraction of b->u events is roughly doubled. Compared to a pure hadronic invariant mass cut, the uncertainty from the unknown light-cone distribution function of the b...
